Shenandoah District. Dear Brethren: Another, conference year has closed, and we meet to
review the past, chronicle results, and plan for the future. Praise is due to God, who has given peace to
Zion and prosperity within her borders. Shenandoah District is composed of 14 circuits, including three
missions. These, with one exception, have been supplied during on this district. In salary and
assessments there will be a deficiency, owing to the fact that preachers and people are afraid to say
“money” until the close of the year. We have the opinion, upon personal visits, that the growing towns
adjacent and in our midst should be occupied without delay. To do this we must have men and means.
Elkton Circuit is now moving in the direction of Shenandoah City, to meet, we believe, with success.
The literature will compare well with former years. Salary, including District Fund, $518.26.
Respectfully submitted, C. P. Dyche, P.E.
Winchester District. Mr. Chairman: Through a kind Providence, I am permitted to bring to this
Conference my fourth annual report of Winchester District, which, in its present arrangement, has 14
fields of labor. Twelve of these fields were supplied with preachers at the last Conference, all of whom
were faithful to their trust, except W. J. Miller, who resigned New Creek Circuit about the middle of
June. This vacancy was filled by the appointment of A. S. Hammack, who took charge of the work on
the 26th of July. This, we consider, has been quite a prosperous year to the church on this District, and
we, as his servants, feel that we have had God’s special favor. Death has not been permitted to invade
our ranks or our homes. Health has been given to enable all to labor constantly, and although the
progress of our work was impeded for a time by the great snows, yet we believe our reports will show
advancement on almost every line of church enterprise.
As a result of revival work, we have 375 conversions and 280 accessions to the Church. Two
excellent houses of worship were completed during the year, both on Frederick Circuit: first, Sunrise
Chapel, was dedicated June 15th—cost, $865; second, Friendship Chapel, was dedicated December
21st—cost, $1,065. All of this is substantially provided for. A new frame church in course of erection
on Berkeley Circuit is now enclosed and under roof. Two churches on Winchester Circuit have been
greatly improved. A neat and comfortable parsonage has been built at Jones Spring, on Berkeley
Circuit, and all expense incurred thereby is provided for. At Toms Brook the foundation is laid for a
parsonage, and the greater part of the material to complete the enterprise is already secured. A
