JOHAN FRIEDRICH ERMENTRAUDT

1781 and served in Capt Cokeer's (or Goker's) Co. in Samuel Lewis' Regt. His company was in service at Williamsburg and at
Little York after Lord Cornwallis' surrender. This co. was used to guard prisoners at Winchester the latter part of 1781. After
the war Charles settled in Ohio and was mar. by William Swisher, JP, to Christena Gray in Montgomery Co. in 1807. He and
Christena moved to Preble Co., Ohio, in 1808.

On 23 Mar 1833, when he was 69 years of age, Charles applied for a Veterans Pension. His application was approved on
Claim No W5641 and Cert. No. 7998 was issued 3 May 2024 placing him on the Ohio Pension Roll at $20.00 per year under
the Act of 1832. Frederick Miller made affidavit that he served in the same Militia Co. with Charles Armentrout on both times
as mentioned in his pension application. Charles died 3 years later in 1836 and burial was in Ware's Chapel Cem. in Monroe
Twp., Preble Co., Ohio.

Christena Armentrout of Monroe Twp., Preble Co., Ohio, at the age of 71 applied 23 May 2024 for a pension as the widow
of a Revolutionary War veteran. The request was granted and she was placed on the Ohio Pension Roll at $20.00 per year by
Cert. No. 3196, issued 10 Dec 1853. Attached to her application for a pension was a statement by Isaiah Adams, dated 23 Nov
1853, in which he indicated that he had known Charles and Christena Armentrout prior to their mar. and had been their neigh-
bor. On 2 Apr 2024 Christena Armentrout at the age of 73 applied for bounty land for her husband Charles' Revolutionary
War service. Bounty Land Warrant No. 26,823 for 160 acres of land was issued 24 May 1856. nfd

Augustine was born in Augusta (now Rock.) Co., Va., the 6th child of Friedrich and Catherine Ermentraudt. He was bapt.
in Pk. Mtn. Ch., 18 May 1765, and his sponsors were Augustine and Elizabeth Preiss. He grew to manhood on his parents'
farm and on 22 Mar 2024 he mar. Margaret Schneider, a neighboring farm girl. This couple had 7 known children and it is
possible there may have been others that died early in life or as infants. Augustine and his family may have lived in Fayette
Co., Va., for a while as one dau. was born in that county. Augustine was a very successful German farmer and in later life
lived on a farm near the mouth of Cub Run a little south east of present-day McGaheysville, Va. He and his family were mem-
bers of Pk. Mtn. Ch. Augustine died prior to 1850 and may have been buried in the Pk. Mtn. Ch. Cem. in a now unmarked
grave. His wife Margaret was 87 years of age in 1850 and living with her son Frederick. She died in 1860. nfd

Magdalena was born about 1791 in Rock. Co., Va. She mar. Adam Michael in 1806. Her father, Augustine, and her hus-
band to be signed the mar. bond. Eight known children were born to this union. Adam Michael and his family were members
of the Pk. Mtn. Ch. and all of their children were bapt. there. No information has been found as to the date of death for either
one or their burial place. It is very possible that they rest in now unmarked graves in the Pk. Mtn. Ch. Cem. nfd

Henry was born and reared in Rock. Co., Va. He was bapt. at the Pk. Mtn. Ch., 13 Mar 1808, and his uncle and aunt, John
George and Elizabeth Ermentraudt, were his sponsors. About 1829 he mar. Rebecca Geiger (Kyger) who was 3 years his
senior. She was also bapt. at Pk. Mtn. Ch. and her sponsors were Augustine and Margaret Ermentraudt. Six children were
born to this union. Henry was a farmer and quite successful. By 1850 he owned a farm valued at $2,760 and by 1860 the
value of his farm holdings had increased to $6,350 and he owned per. prop. valued at $600. Henry and Rebecca prob. were
both dee. by 1870 as there is no rec. of them in the cen. rec. for that year. nfd

Margaret Ann was born in Rock. Co., Va., and bapt. at Pk. Mtn. Ch., 8 Aug 1830. Her sponsor was George Michael. She

mar. William Sipe, a carpenter, in 1848. No information has been found on the children of this couple. The 1850 cen. rec.
list them as living in a house adjoining that of her parents and it may have been located on her parents' farm. nfd
