but it was prob. John. The sponsor was John Peter Lamm. Friedrich listed his sons in 1788 in order and John was listed
second. If this is not John, the child born in 1751 died early and he was born prior to 1761. No further rec. for John has
been found to date although he would have been about 37 years of age in 1788. nfd

4-5 CHARLES ERMENTRAUDT
b: 8 May 1763, Augusta (now Rock.) Co., Va.; d: 6 May 1836, Preble Co., Ohio; m: 23 June 1807,

Montgomery Co., Ohio, to CHRISTENA GRAY, b: c 1782; d:?
CHILDREN: none.

Charles was the 5th child of Friedrich and Catherine Ermentraudt, born in 1763. He was bapt. at Pk. Mtn. Ch., 19 June
1763, and his sponsor was Charles Hetterick. The rec. indicates that the name was Johan Henry, but Friedrich did not have a
son Johan Henry and did have a son Charles born at the same time. This is undoubtedly an error. Johan Henry was the son of
Christopher Ermentraudt and there was only a couple of months difference in the ages of the 2 boys. Christopher was a
prisoner of the Indians at this time and Friedrich undoubtedly took both boys to the ch. to be bapt. and only one was entered
in the rec. and with the wrong parentage.

Charles was drafted as a private into the Rock. Co., Va., Militia, 16 Jan 1781, for 3 months service in Capt Gouger's (or
Cowger's) Co. of Col. Knolls' Regt. of Gen Muhlenberg's Brigade. He served on scouting parties and on guard duty. He was
discharged on 11 Apr 2024 by Col. Byers who succeeded Col. Knolls in Command of the Regt. He was again drafted on 1 Sept
