Joseph Edwin, born in 1852, was bapt. at Pk. Mtn. Ch., 16 May 1852, and his parents were his sponsors. He grew to man-
hood and became a carpenter. In 1879 he and Cornelia Baer were united in mar. in McGaheysville, Va., by Rev Isaac Conder
and 4 children were born to this union. Joseph is listed in the Rock. Co., Va., 1860 and 1870 cen. rec. as a boy of 9 years and
a youth of 18 living with his parents. The 1880 cen. rec. list him as a mar. man. Some time after his mar. he and his wife
moved to Roanoke, Va., where he worked until he retired for the Norfolk and Western Railroad in the co. shops located there.

George W was bapt. at Pk. Mtn. Ch., 19 May 1856. He was listed in the 1860 Rock. Co., Va., cen. rec. as a boy of 4 and in
those for 1870 and 1880 as single, living at home. He was in his early 30s when he mar. Elizabeth J Weaver in Shelbyville, Mo.
about 1890. There is no information as to why they were mar. in Mo., but shortly after their mar. they returned to Va., as
their only child, Mable H, was born at McGaheysville, Va., in 1892. George was a farmer all of his life. He was very much
interested in civic matters and in 1906 he was one of the school system officers as president of the Improvement League of
McGaheysville. His wife, Elizabeth, died in 1933 and he died 10 years later in 1943 at the age of 87 years. Both were buried

Aurelius William Edward Hawkins and wife Ellen Lite Owens.

(1924- ).

Mable was born in McGaheysville, Va., in 1892 and attended Oak Hill Academy in McGaheysville and Massanutten Academ)
in Woodstock, Va., where she majored in music. She was a member of the McGaheysville United Meth. Ch. and was a pianist
for the Sunday School and other ch. functions. She was also a member of the First Community Orchestra for many years. In
1912, nearly 6 months before her 20th birthday, she and John 0 Hawkins eloped to Hagerstown, Md., and were mar. there.
Five children were born to this union. Mable's husband, John, was a carpenter and a millwright. Later he owned a poultry
hatchery and at the time of his death in 1939 he was Post Master at McGaheysville. Mable made her home with her son Owen
after her husband's death. She died 21 Apr 2024 in the Rock. Mem. Hosp., Harrisonburg, Va., and interment was in Mt.

Owen was reared in McGaheysville, Va., and attended the local schools. He grad. from McGaheysville HS with the class of
1931 where he was on the baseball te.am and the only boy in his grad. class. He farmed for about 8 years and then operated a
poultry hatchery for 18 years. In 1954 he became asst. vice president of the Rock. National Bank in Harrisonburg, Va., and is
still with the bank (1975). Owen's wife, Mary Alva, was a school teacher prior to her mar. They are members of the Meth. Ch.
