Shenandoah District. brethren: I feel that I am brought under many ligations to our Common
Father for his goodness bestowed during the past year. I am thankful that I am permitted to bring to you
this another annual report. The District is composed of 14 fields—seven circuits, six missions, and one
mission station. Twelve of these were filled at out last annual sitting, leaving Front Royal and Madison
missions to be supplied. Madison was supplied by Rev. J. W. Maiden, and Front Royal by Rev.
R. Byrd. Success has attended the labors of the preachers on most of the fields, but we have not
witnessed such displays of Divine power as we desired. We need a baptism of the Holy Spirit in both
the pulpit and pew. Six excellent houses of worship were dedicated on the District during the year, and
others are contemplated during the coming year. This is a hopeful feature, as it insures permanency. I
held 43 quarterly meetings in person and 12 by proxy—55 in all. I am thankful for the kindness shown
me by the ministers and laity during the year. Salary received, $500.65. Time employed, 12 months.
Respectfully submitted, J. W. Howe, P.E.
South Branch District. The church literature has been kept in our Sabbath schools. We have
urged our people to take the Telescope, with some success. I hope we will show an increase in church
papers. Our church houses are all out of debt except two; one in Westernport, the other in Swanton.
The former is an old debt, and unless assisted from abroad, I fear it will not be paid soon. The latter is
hopeful. Thanks to my brethren in the Ministry for their abundant kindness, and to all for their generous
hospitality. Salary received, $407.80; presents, $46.55. Time, 12 months. Respectfully submitted, J. K.
Nelson, P.E.
Boundaries. Boundary Committee’s report was submitted and adopted as it came from the
committee:
1. That the P.E. Districts remain unchanged.
2. South Branch District: (a) Detach Otterbein and Mt. Pleasant from Berkeley Spring circuit,
Sleepy Creek and Main’s [Mahnes] appointment from Berkeley mission, to form a circuit to be called
Morgan circuit. (b) Detach the Files appointment from Bloomery circuit and attach to Berkeley mission.
