South Branch District. Dear brethren: By the mercy of our kind Heavenly Father, I have the
pleasure today to present to you an account of the past year’s work. The District is composed of
8 circuits, 3 missions, and 2 stations, making in all 13 charges. In the very beginning of the year Bro.
Day resigned Deer Park Mission. Bro. A. N. Horn was appointed to fill the vacancy. He at once took
charge of the work and did the best he could for it. Rev. N. A. Kiracofe, after serving Lost River
Mission about 6 months, resigned. Bro. A. S. Hammack was appointed to the charge. The preachers
have all worked hard, and some permanent progress has been made. Arrangements are being made to
dedicate three new church houses the coming summer. The list of Telescopes will show an increase.
The Sunday school literature will also show an increase, I think. One camp meeting was held on South
Branch Circuit, which resulted in great good. Revival influence and power prevailed on most of the
charges. Quarterlies held, 50; by proxy, 9. Baptized, 45. Funerals preached, 3. Visits made, about 375.
Sermons preached, 146; presents, $54.27. Time employed, 12 months. Salary received, $453.60. I am
grateful to the brethren for their kindness. To God I render all praise for his blessings to me and mine.
Respectfully submitted, J. W. Hicks, P.E.
Shenandoah District. Dear brethren: Acknowledging the goodness of my Heavenly Father,
and the kindness of my brethren both in the Ministry and Laity, I submit this my report of Shenandoah
District. Rev. W. S. Rau resigned Madison Mission soon after Conference. Rev. J. M. Eavey was
appointed to take charge of the work, but he resigned in a short time, and Rev. J. W. Maiden was
appointed. Some excellent revivals have been held, and 444 members have been received into the
Church. Finances generally behind, though I think some improvement over last year. A building, 35-ft
by 46-ft and two stories high, has been erected at Shenandoah Institute, with only a small debt resting
upon it. I have been hindered in my work for more than a month by ill health, but I am thankful to God
that I am permitted to attend another Annual Conference. I held 44 quarterlies in person and 10 by
proxy. Salary received, $496.75. Time employed, 12 months. Respectfully submitted, J. W. Howe,
P.E.
