Ones. I presented the missionary interests on all the fields of labor and held some missionary meetings.
The other various collections were frequently mentioned.
The reports of most of the dear brethren on the District are full, especially where vigorous efforts
were made. It is true most of the brethren have received very meager salaries, but they have labored
energetically notwithstanding. We held three camp meetings on the District, all of which were pleasant
and profitable. One, especially, was attended with more Divine power than any meeting of the kind it
has ever been my privilege to attend—a meeting that will never be forgotten by those who were present.
Our church on the entire District is looking up. I found more deep-toned piety in many places in
that part of the Virginia Conference than I ever anticipated. Indeed, it seems to me the highest ambition
of the people is to be good, which is as it should be. Arrangements have been made to preach in
Moorefield, county seat of Hardy County, in the ensuing year. I have preached (or tried to preach) 170
times during the year, and I have held several extra meetings besides the quarterlies. My salary on the
District amounts to $289.08; presents, $5.25.
Peace and prosperity prevail on the District. The year just ending has been one of the most
pleasant in my life. My brethren in the Ministry and Laity have been very kind to me, and I feel that I
have had the prayers of all the dear brethren of the Conference. Meanwhile, beloved brethren, I have
not forgotten you at a throne of grace. Yours, in Jesus. Respectfully submitted, A. M. Evers, P.E.
