Shenandoah District. Dear brethren: I am thankful to God that I am permitted to be with you
today to report the labors of another year. It has been my lot to pass through the saddest year of my life,
because of sickness and death in my family; I will not complain, but trust God for His grace. The
district is composed of 7 circuits, 1 station, and 0 missions. Most of the fields have been visited with
more or less revival power, and there has been quite an ingathering of souls. Two houses of worship
have been dedicated, another ready to dedicate. One parsonage has been completed, and another one is
under way, but moves slowly. I was authorized by the Quarterly Conference of Augusta Circuit to make
sale of our house of worship at Bridgewater, which sale has been effected at $400—$200 in cash and the
remainder in two equal annual payments, two-fifths of the money to be appropriated to the parsonage of
Augusta Circuit, and three-fifths to a district parsonage.

I think the finances will show an increase over last year. The circulation of the periodicals of the
Church will show an increase in the aggregate. The preachers have all worked hard, and a good year’s
work has been done. But we ought to have more efficient men and means to occupy the territory
opening up to us every year. The Macedonian cry is heard almost everywhere we go. The prospects, in
my mind, have never been as bright for us in Virginia as they are now. I trust that God may help us to
wake up. Oh! for a missionary spirit among us. I think I never felt more like working for God and the
Church than I do now. I thank my brethren in the Ministry and in the Laity for the kindness shown me
during the year, and pray that God may abundantly bless them. I preached 169 times, held 49 Quarterly
Meetings, and for 11 months’ service received $527.90. Respectfully submitted, J. W. Howe, P.E.

Potomac District. Dear brethren: I herewith present my annual report of Potomac District of
Virginia Annual Conference for the year just closed. Our common Heavenly Father has been very
gracious to me and mine during the year; health, food, and raiment have been kindly given and with
gratitude enjoyed. The district is composed of 8 circuits, 2 mission stations, and 2 stations. Quarterly
conferences held, 48; Camp meeting, 1; salary received from district, $500.07; presents, $5; and total,
$505.07. Churches dedicated during the year, 2; and parsonages built during the year, 2. Harmony and
