Terms and Vacations—The Academic Year is divided into three terms: The Fall Term of
16 weeks will begin on Tuesday, September 7, 1880, and end on Friday, December 24, 1880. The
Winter Term of 11 weeks will begin Tuesday, January 11, 1881, and end on Friday, March 25, 1881.
The Spring Term of 12 weeks will begin on Monday, March 28, and close on Friday, June 17, 1881.

When Terms of Payment are strictly complied with, a reduction of five per cent, from these prices will
be made on all charges for tuition. Estimates of entire yearly expense furnished upon application.
Parents are advised that pupils need very little pocket money. The Common English Branches include
Orthography, English, Grammar, Elementary Geography, Mental and Written Arithmetic, and Reading.
The Intermediate Branches include Higher Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra, Analysis, Physical
Geography, Rhetoric, Penmanship, and Bookkeeping. The Higher Branches include the Higher English
studies, together with Mathematics, Latin, and Greek.

Report of the Committee on Education (pp. 10-11). Sanctified education is an increasing
necessity; be it therefore, Resolved, (1) That we, the ministers of this Conference, more diligently heed
the precept of inspiration: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, workmen that needeth not be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” II. Timothy 2: 15. (2) It is the sense of this Conference
that a more thorough culture upon the part of all candidates for the ministry is imperatively necessary
and as encouragement to this end, we will endeavor to increase the contributions for beneficiary aid both
general and local. (3) That Union Biblical Seminary is deserving of all the moral and material support
that we are capable of giving to it and that we will endeavor to secure the advantages it affords to all
who contemplate entering our ranks. (4) That we memorialize the General Conference: First, to arrange
the Course of Reading so as to correspond with the course of Union Biblical Seminary. Second, to make
a certificate of graduation from Union Biblical Seminary a sufficient educational qualification and
recommendation for Ordination. (5) That we recognize, as a co-operating Conference, our obligation to
