Nelson, Rev. W. O. Grim, and Dr. W. M. Wheeler MD.

Report of the Committee on Education (pp. 14-15). As we become more and more convinced
of the fact that a sanctified education gives influence and power, we feel a stronger attachment to our
religious institutions of learning and welcome their representatives: (1) That we hear of the increased
interest and success of our institutions of learning with great pleasure. (2) As U.B. Seminary is our only
Theological School in the Church, we give it our full sympathy, our prayer and our hearty support.
(3) As L. V. College is our great educational center in the East, we give our renewed obligations to its
support. (4) That we recognize in Shenandoah Seminary an auxiliary to the cause of education, and that
it have our sympathies and prayers. (5) As Edwards Academy is in a Mission Conference, of which the
Virginia Conference claims to be parent, that it is incumbent upon us to assist at least a little in her
educational work. D. D. Keedy.

Visiting Committee to Shenandoah Seminary (p. 16). We, the undersigned, your Committee
appointed by the Virginia Annual Conference, at its last session, to visit Shenandoah Seminary, attended
its late Commencement and witnessed its entertainments and examinations, and observed its educational
facilities, and beg leave to say to the members of the Conference that we were delighted with the
government, mode of teaching adopted, and the advantages offered by the Faculty, and with the
proficiency of the pupils of the institution, and we cordially recommend it to the confidence and
patronage of Christians everywhere. Respectfully submitted. A. M. Evers for W. Beall, MD, J. R.
Ridenour, and M. F. Keiter.
