Shenandoah District. Dear brethren: In submitting this my first annual report, I desire to
express my gratitude to God the Father for his continual grace and providential care during the year; and
to my brethren in the Ministry for the precious fellowship and hearty cooperation, and to the Laity for
the earnestness manifested in the work. The pastors have all enjoyed the blessings of health, and have
under the direction of the Holy One been granted a good measure of success, as their reports will show.
The year has been one full of work and responsibility.
The District. Twenty charges comprise the district to which I devoted my service during the
year. I have held all the Quarterlies in person, but three; two by proxy, due to sickness in my family and
death of an uncle, and the other was not held on account of the weather. I have preached 200 times and
traveled about 3,500 miles on district. As much time as possible was given to helping the brethren in
their protracted meetings.
Resignations and Supplies. Immediately after Conference, Rev. J. G. Roudabush resigned
Shenandoah Circuit, and Rev. J. W. Stearn who served the charge last year, was continued on the
charge. Rev. L. O. Bricker resigned Staunton Station April 3rd, and by request of the Official Board
Rev. A. N. Horn of the Pennsylvania Conference supplied the work during the remainder of the year.
Rockbridge Circuit was left to be supplied by the last Conference. Rev. S. G. Wells was appointed and
served the charge until August 30th, when he resigned. Rev. W. D. Good resigned Albemarle Circuit
September 15 to enter Shenandoah Collegiate Institute, and Rev. S. G. Wells was appointed to the work
September 16th. Rev. J. C. S. Myers was appointed to Rockbridge circuit October 1st. Basic City
Mission was left to be supplied. Rev. S. R. Ludwig preached at these appointments as much as his time
would permit.
Licentiates. Quarterly conference licenses were granted to Andrew P. Pomce, April 10, 1902;
and to Marvin W. Maiden, December 27, 1902. J. L. Argenbright was recommenced to the Annual
Conference by the Fourth Quarterly Conference on Pleasant Valley charge. Rev. S. G. Wells was
received into First Church Roanoke, on his credentials from the M. E. Church and is recommended to
this session of the Annual Conference for membership. Missions. The general interest in mission work
