Shenandoah District. Dear brethren: In submitting this my annual report I gratefully
acknowledge the goodness of our Heavenly Father and the kindness of the Church. The year has been a
pleasant one, one full of service and of good results. There are 22 charges, 18 white, and 4 colored, on
the District. These have been served as arranged at our last session, except that Rev. C. D. Bennett
resigned Franklin Circuit, June 5, 1900; Miss Ida Judy was appointed to the work June 7, 1900, and has
had excellent success in her labors. Rev. E. A. McGee resigned Harrisonburg [FM] Circuit (col.),
November 27, 1900, but was retained to serve Dunges Chapel [FM] and Keezletown [FM]
appointments, Harrisonburg being given to Rev. T. K. Clifford till the close of the year. All pastors
have worked faithfully and are held in high esteem by their people. About 89 quarterlies were held, a
number by proxy. Rev A. Hoover died February 10, 1901, at Roanoke, Va., in full hope of immortality.

Three churches have been dedicated—at Harrisonburg, Va., A. S. Hammack, pastor; Riverton,
W.Va., J. W. Brill, pastor; and Swift Run, Va., J. H. Brunk, pastor. Churches are in course of
construction at Roanoke (Mission); Union Hall, Churchville circuit, on Shenandoah City charge; and
Crabbottom, Pendleton circuit. Plans are laid and funds secured for building at Mt. Zion, Rockbridge
circuit, and at Salem, Elkton circuit. Lots have been secured at Staunton looking toward the relocation
of the church there, and at Elkton for building in the near future; also at two places on Monterey work.
A parsonage has been purchased on Franklin circuit, and steps taken toward securing one on Albemarle
work. Repairs have been made on a number of church properties, amounting to several thousand
dollars.

Our Ministerial Institute was held at Mt. Zion, Augusta Co., with fair success. There are
19 Young People’s Societies and 3 Junior Societies. These are helpful in the church work and in the
main prospering. One Woman’s Missionary Society and 9 Ladies’ Aid Societies. Some excellent
revival meetings have been held; and the additions to the church have been about as other years. Mr. A.
P. Swadley, of Upper Tract, W.Va., and E. E. Burtner, of Mt. Clinton, Va., have been licensed to preach,
and J. P. Patterson, of Roanoke, Va., was granted Exhorter’s License by their quarterly conferences.
Shenandoah Institute has been having an excellent year and will be reported by others. My entire time
