only fair. The local patronage was never better. The senior class numbers eight, with several to
complete adjunct courses.

The buildings and grounds have been much improved in the past year [cost unknown] and are in
fair condition. The finances remain about as last year. In conclusion, I commend to your consideration:
(1) The advisability of giving the alumni representation on the Board of Direction. (2) The propriety of
raising $2,000 on the Conference floor for the Institute at such time as may be thought best. Soliciting
from the members and delegates of this Conference the fullest sympathy and cooperation for the School,
and remembering the many kindnesses received at the hands of the brethren, and the honor the
Conference has given me in this work, with devout gratitude for Divine help, this report is respectfully
made. George P. Hott, Principal of Shenandoah Institute. Letters from U.B. Seminary, Dayton, Ohio,
were read to Conference.

Visiting Committee to Shenandoah Institute (p. 13). We, your committee appointed to visit
Shenandoah Institute, visited said institution commencement week, June 1894, and attended the
examinations and Board meetings. We found the School in good running order. The buildings and
grounds in fair condition, but encumbered with a small debt which in the judgment of the committee
should be raised at an early day. J. B. Chamberlain and R. Byrd.

Other Business (p. 20). The papers were discussed by Rev. A. P. Funkhouser, Editor I. L.
Kephart, and Geo. P. Hott, and all the reports were adopted. Rev. J. F. Snyder was elected Trustee77 of
Shenandoah Institute to represent the alumni, and also A. P. Funkhouser and M. J. Hinkle members of
the Board.
