Stained Glass Windows in the Churches of Harrisonburg

Muhlenberg Lutheran Church

281 East Market Street.

The congregation of this church was first organized in 1849 under the leadership of Pastor J. J.
Suman. The church was originally located at the corner of North Main Street and Wolfe Street but moved
to its present location in 1950. The Easter window above the altar dates to 1952 and is the work of the J
& R Lamb Company of Spring Valley, New York.

The other windows were created over a period of
years in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s by the Wippel
Mowbray Church Furnishings Company of Exeter,
England. All the windows are double lancet shape with a
diamond pane at the top. The windows from Exeter have
very elaborate architectural settings as part of the design.
