Parsonage Building and Improvements. A new and commodious parsonage was built close by
the church in Keyser, W.Va., containing eight rooms at a cost of a little more than $1,200. A well of
excellent water was put down in the yard of the parsonage on Bayard Circuit and also an orchard of
some 30 trees planted. The parsonage on South Branch circuit has been further repaired and furnished at
a cost of $65.65. The parsonage at Inwood painted and some articles of furniture placed in the
parsonage at a cost of $111.15. West Frederick circuit parsonage finished and the debt reduced by $70.
All together $125. The parsonage on Edinburg circuit located at Hawkinstown was sold for $800, and a
good house on a good lot with all out buildings was purchased in Edinburg for $1,285 and all paid for
except $25. I cannot help but believe that the relocation was a great mistake. Stephens City parsonage,
Frederick circuit, greatly improved with a fresh coat of paint and other improvements to out buildings at
a cost of $57.12. A new cook stove and kitchen cupboard placed in the parsonage at Martinsburg at a
cost of $30.
Churches. Keyser, a new church of modern design and very attractive and commodious was
built at a cost of $5,350 for both church and lot. This church was dedicated August 7, 2024 by Dr.
William M. Weekley. This is the newest and one of the most important enterprises of the Conference;
but has not had that general and liberal support from the Ministry and Laity of the Conference that it
justly merits. Two new churches have been built on Berkeley Springs Circuit, one at a cost of $1,200,
and was dedicated March 19, 1905, by Dr. William M. Weekly; the other at a cost of about $600, and
will be ready for dedication early in the next Conference year. The following churches have been
remodeled and greatly improved: Mt. Hebron at a cost of $101.40, Mt. Carmel at a cost of $190, and
Union Chapel cost $46; all on South Branch Circuit. The church at Great Cacapon, remodeled at a cost
of $366.75. A new $350 piano has been placed in the Sunday school room at Martinsburg. Mt. Pleasant
church, Inwood circuit, improved at a cost of $38. The church in Winchester has been freshly painted
on the outside at a cost of $50. Mt. Hebron on Toms Brook Circuit remodeled at a cost of $150. A part
of the roof has been put on the Church in Westernport and money secured to complete the work. A new
church, centrally located, on Cabin Run, New Creek Circuit, is an imperative need. Greenway church,
Frederick circuit has been painted outside at a cost of $28.
Quarterly Conference. Many of the business sessions were well attended and a good degree of
interest manifested and were very helpful, while others were poorly attended and there was an apparent
lack of any interest whatever, due in most cases to a plain failure upon the part of the pastors to properly
announce the meeting and to take any interest in the proceedings themselves. Missions. The great work
of Christian missions is getting a better hold on our people and they are giving a more intelligent and
liberal support to this important work. All the charges on the district except five will report the full
assessment for Missions and some much more than the assessment. Home Missions has been given a
good support wherever presented, and the district will report more than $425 for our homework. We
need and ought to have $1,000 for this work annually. Church Erection. This great interest of the
Church has had special attention by the different pastors, and all the charges on the district except two
will report the full assessment and some charges more than the assessment.
Sabbath Schools and Young People’s Christian Union. These remain about the same as last year
as to number of organizations, scholars, literature, etc. Possibly two or three more schools and also a
few more Y.P.C.U. Societies [than last year]. Our own literature is used in all the schools except one or
two. Better work is being done in the Sabbath schools than formerly. More conversions in the Sabbath
schools. Literature. While the Sabbath school literature will not vary much from last year, there has
been a good increase in the circulation of the Telescope and especially of the Watchword. Brother W. S.
