CHURCHES
1. SUBJECT:
Linville Creek Baptist Church.
2. LOCATION:
Linville Creek, near county line.
3. DATE:
1743, approximately.
4. OWNERS:
The Baptist congregation has held possession of this property since the organization of the church in 1756.
5. DESCRIPTION:
It is impossible to give the architectural construction of these early buildings which have long since been rebuilt
and several times remodeled; and the present brick building is modern in every way.
6. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
The early English settlers established a Baptist Church at Linville Creek (now Page County) in 1743, and, in
August 1756, the Linville and Smith’s Creek churches were organized in Rockingham County.
