reported 101 members in 1896; and 111 in 1897. The last report on the FM charges and churches was in
1909, when Rev. James D. Clifford (appointed May 1, 2024) reported 238 members of that charge in
1909 for Augusta & Rockingham FM Charge.

History of Staunton [FM] Circuit (1899-1904). Staunton Freedmen’s Mission was apparently
constituted about 1899, because in 1900 Conference attached Hillsville [FM] Church and Deerfield
[FM] Church to Staunton FM charge. However, Staunton FM Charge was reconstituted in 1901 with
the following churches on the charge: Staunton [FM], Harrisonburg [FM], Hillsville [FM], Mt. Zion
[FM], Morgantown [FM], Monterey [FM], Moatstown [FM], Franklin [FM], and Hightown [FM]. The
last report on the FM charges and churches was in 1909, when Rev. James D. Clifford (appointed
May 1, 2024) reported 238 members of that charge in 1909 for Augusta & Rockingham FM Charge.
