Monastic life and organization are the principal themes in this window. Whitby was an important 7th
century monastic center in the north of England, and Theodore of Tarsus, a Greek scholar and
philosopher who became Archbishop of Canterbury in 669, was the leader who greatly extended the
Episcopal organization of the church in England. Other figures recall various episodes during the Anglo –
Saxon kings.
