2010 Calendar of Events

   

4th Saturday of the month from March - August
from 11am - 3pm

The historic Cromer-Trumbo House on the HRHS grounds will be open for tours on the 4th Saturday of the month from March through August 2010 at 11 am to 3 pm. 

Docents, some in period dress, will escort visitors through the house, which is furnished with antiques and decorative arts from the Victorian collection of Mary Spitzer Etter. 

Admission is $5 payable at the Heritage Center.  An $8 fee will include admission to the Heritage Center.  Free parking is available at the Heritage Center.

Regt, CS Engineers (Georgia) at the Heritage Museum.

“Jed Hotchkiss, Stonewall Jackson's Topographical Engineer”


Mr. Castle has been involved in surveying for 43 years being a Registered Surveyor for the last 22 years. Mr. Castle is the owner of Confederate Surveying Associates, Inc. In 2003, Mr. Castle founded Co B, 3rd Regt Confederate Engineers. The Confederate
Engineers are a living history group performing reenactments and educating the public on mapping and engineering tools and techniques used during the War Between the States.

Tickets are $15 per person.

Wednesday, October 6

Annual Banquet at James Madison University Festival Center. Program by Nancy & Irvin Hess about their farm on the Cross Keys Battlefield.

Saturday, October 9,
8:30a.m.–5:00p.m.

Bus tour of Jed Hotchkiss sites in Augusta County.

Co-sponsored with Augusta County Historical Society. Stops include the map exhibit, the sites of the schools where Hotchkiss was principal, three churches he attended, the cemetery where he is buried, and his home in Staunton where he stored his map
collection in a vault [the home is currently offered for sale, and at the present time it is on the tour].

Price includes lunch, TBA. Call 540-879-2616 for reservations. Seating is limited.
