involved is the Corinthian Club ministry, whereby many of their less fortunate brothers and sisters in the
community are provided with food, clothing, medication, transportation, payment of utility bills, etc.,
when the need for assistance occurs. Several sizable Memorial Gifts have been made to the church.
Other church improvements have included a PA system, the equipment having been given by
Mr. and Mrs. Simon Gilbert; the installation of a ramp at the west door entrance to the Sanctuary;
window well covers; folding doors between the Perseverers’ (Older Adults) Sunday School Classroom
and the Sanctuary; and the painting of the church, both inside and outside. With the help of the city,
curbing and guttering was also installed alongside church property on Cherry Hill Drive. Funds received
from membership in the 25th Anniversary Club (those who contribute $25.00 over and above their
regular weekly contributions) are being used for new ceiling in the educational building and for other
minor repairs.
Cherryvale has and is contributing to church leadership on a district level. The Rev. Mr.
Turnipseed served as Staunton District Youth Coordinator, and the Rev. Mr. Gee has served in this
capacity since coming to Staunton. The Rev. Mr. Gee also served as Chairperson of the District Council
on Ministries last year (1980-81) and is president of the District Ministers this year. Mrs. Gee served as
vice-president of the District Ministers’ Wives last year. Mrs. Guy A. (Edith) Ralston served for four
years as Staunton District Coordinator of Christian Supportive Community for the United Methodist
Women, and Mrs. George L. (Reba) Weiss served four years as Staunton District Secretary of the
United Methodist Women and is completing her third year as treasurer. Amy Gee is president of the
District MYF and is a member of the Conference Board of Church and Society.
25th Anniversary Committee: Mary Perkins, Chairperson; H. B. Coffman; Shirley Humphreys;

membership is 245. The 1981 indebtedness of the church is $13.30.
