Not definitely known. The original part of stone in the late 1700s, the brick part some time later.

6. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
This farm and residence has been known for years as the George W. Reherd place, acquired by him in 1879.
The land was originally acquired by Solomon Turpine, December 7, 1763, by survey and consisted of 192 acres
(Survey Book 01, page 28) located on the dry fork of Smith’s Creek. Also surveyed to him in the same locality
May 27, 1769, 130 acres and on the same date 220 acres on Linville Creek. After a number of conveyances, the
192 acre farm was purchased by Thomas Harrison from David Usher for $2,100 in Specie payment, the exact
acreage being 192a, 2r, 28p. The farm now consists of 128 acres of fine land and the old stone and brick home.
