Volume 9 Preachers of U.B. and EUB Virginia Conferences December 26, 2024
Sep. 24, 1954, after listening to a “Back To the Bible” broadcast, Mr. Douty became convicted, accepted
Christ, and answered a definite call to the ministry. He united with the Glady Fork EUB Church and was
baptized at EUB Acres Conference Camp the following spring. In Aug. 1956, he was assigned to the seven-
point Freed Charge in the W.Va. Conf. . During his three years there, he attended Salem College, Salem,
W.Va. In 1959, he accepted the assignment of Jones Spring Charge, and, while serving these five churches,
he has attended Shenandoah College (Class of 1962) and Washington Bible College. He also is studying the
Conference Course of Study for ordination in 1966.” After 1969, Rev. Douty continued to serve the
independent Bible churches that formed from previously EUB churches in the Jones Spring area, when those
churches voted not to go to the UMC and, instead, purchased their buildings from the Baltimore Conference
(at about one-half the assessed value). [Glovier 1965, p. 291, from which the picture was taken; see also pp.
86, 259]

Annual Conference until 1812; and died in 1825. He was one of the preachers noted at the Conference of
1812 who “were authorized ‘to administer all the ordinances of the house of God.’ None were ordained. The
authorization43 had been at some great meeting, or a conference to administer the sacraments” [Funkhouser
1921, pp. 124, 134, 225, 228-229; Glovier 1965, p. 87].

committee to examine the accounts of S. Drislock respecting certain collections made by him and to see that
the money is expended according to description.” In 1830 “Jacob Erb and Simon Drislock asked to bring their
complaints before the conference. Nothing being found to justify any action, the charges were dismissed. Bro.
Drislock gave satisfaction in regard to the difficulties of last year.” Note: A Simon “Dresback” was a member
of Pa. Conf. of 1833. [Funkhouser 1921, pp. 237-242].

of North Frederick United Methodist Charge and attending Shepherd College. Mrs. DuBreuil was a student at
Shenandoah College. They lived in the parsonage at 324 Shenandoah Avenue, Winchester. JoEllen Dubreuil

1808. He was one of the non-ordained preachers (see A. Draksel, above) noted at the Conference of 1812
who were authorized “to administer all the ordinances of the house of God.” [Funkhouser 1921, pp. 124, 134,
225, 227, 229; Glovier 1965, p. 87]

43 This appears to have the character of the license for a “local pastor” in the UMC today.
