next 10 days. What we see at present and the outlook for next year speak loudly for more commodious
and modern buildings, and continued attention toward maintaining a high degree of efficiency in its
teaching force. The moral sentiment of the School is well sustained. The students’ Prayer Meetings and
Sunday afternoon Bible Class are well attended and much interest is manifested. Respectfully
Submitted, E. U. Hoenshel, Principal.

Visiting Committee to Shenandoah Institute (p. 20). We, your Visiting Committee to
Shenandoah Institute, beg leave to report that we visited the School during commencement, and were
very kindly received by the Principal, Prof. E. U. Hoenshel, and his wife, by whom we were conducted
through the buildings and grounds, finding everything in a commendable condition. We consider the
work of this School all that it is claimed to be, and urge both pastors and laymen to cooperate with the
Principal in his effort to make our School second to none of its character. A. P. Walton, L. A. Racey.

Permanent Fund (p. 23). Centennial Effort in Behalf of Shenandoah Institute—We, your
committee, beg leave to report as follows: The more pressing needs of the educational work today in
this Conference is a productive permanent fund of at least $10,000, which would be to Shenandoah
Institute a guarantee for its life for time to come, as well as a great magnet which would draw from other
friends of the Institute continual gifts for the furtherance of its work. We recommend, therefore, (1) The
re-adoption of the action of last annual conference in regard to this fund. (1) The creation of a
Conference Board of Education, the object of which shall be, (a) to collect a Centenary Permanent
Educational Fund and (b) to equip and endow Shenandoah Institute. This Board shall elect its officers
not otherwise provided for, and shall adopt such by-laws and regulations as may best further the
interests of the work of the Board, and shall make such recommendations as necessary at next annual
conference. (1) The following persons shall constitute the Board for this conference year: J. W. Howe,
A. P. Funkhouser, W. F. Gruver, L. O. Bricker, James Hancher, H. N. Whitesel, and J. H. Ruebush.
(4) That Dr. T C. Carter be employed as field secretary, and that our ministers heartily cooperate with
the field secretary in special efforts to secure this Centenary Fund. L. Walter
Lutz, Secretary.
