John Niswander Home.
West Side of Main Street, Dayton, Virginia.
1835 to 1840.
John Niswander was the builder and original owner. Then it was owned for twenty-five or thirty years by Aldine Kieffea, a pioneer music publisher, and now John Wenger.
This is a substantially built brick house on pre-war architectural plans.

It was one of the few houses that escaped Sheridan’s vengeance during his famous Raid of the Valley.
