The Shenandoah Valley Folk Art and Heritage Center is currently involved in a special fundraising project to raise $5,000 for the preservation and display of the 10th Virginia Infantry State Battle Flag.

The 10th Virginia Regiment consisted of 10 Companies from the Shenandoah VAlley and one from Madison County. About 1/2 of the Shenandoah Valley men were from Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. This authentic battle damaged flag was flown in at least 14 major engagements between 1861 and 1865.

We plan to display, along with the flag when the preservation work is completed, a commemorative plaque listing major contributors and those who contribute in memory of an ancestor who served itn the 10th Virginia.
