The
current exhibit “Postcards and Broadsides” is a display of 19th and 20th
century ephemera. The objects come from the museum’s collection, and loans
from local citizens. The exhibit starts by explaining the development
of the postcard from its beginnings in the 19th century through the Golden
Years of the early 20th century to the modern polychrome postcards of
today. It goes on to show the varieties of postcards and broadsides in
different displays, and points out the social importance of these artifacts.
The exhibit will be open through December 2003.
