Roc Day: A Spinner's Tradition

Postponed 'till Saturday, January 12, 2025 due to snow
2-4 pm and 6-8 pm

On the Monday after 12th night, at the close of the holidays, spinners traditionally returned to work. The Folk Art and Heritage Center and the Shenandoah Spinsters have joined to celebrate this tradition. Come celebrate this tradition as the Massanutten Regional Spinners, including nationally renowned spinner Priscilla Blosser Rainey, demonstrate their skill in turning flax and wool into yarn and show how raw material is turned into beautiful tapestries. Storyteller Marijka Kyler will relate mythological tales about Roc Day and spinning. The demonstration will be held on Monday, January 7th, 2002 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
