The Armentrout Family from 1739 to 1978

Published by the late Russell S. Armentrout in 1980, this
book covers the Armentrout family from their beginnings in Germany through
their moves to Berks County, Pennsylvania and to Rockingham County, Virginia
in 1752.
Widow Anna Elizabeth Armentrout and her 7 children first
settled in what is now Berks County, Pa. She and five sons moved to Rockingham
County in 1752 where the family was a moving force inthe building of the
second Peaked MOuntain Church in 1769. Later the 6th son moved to the
Valley.
Mr. Armentrout's 870 page book is a history of the family,
not simply a listing of names and dates. As much as possible he included
where each family lived, their occupations, and other information about
the family, with the sources of information. There are copies of originial
documents as well as 221 photographs, some dating to the 1860s. Mr Armentrout
donated the copyright to the Historical Society when the book was buplished.

This reprint has an appendix of corrections that were sent
to the Historical Society. The reprint is hardcover and is printedon acid-free
paper.
